Embrace China in 2049
Living in a great time, the young people in China have witnessed tremendous achievements that China has made and are thriving to build their beloved country into a better one. As a Chinese youth, I couldn’t find the right words to express the pride in my heart when seeing national flags on the streets during the 20th National People’s Congress, watching the grand ceremonies of the Winter Olympics held in Beijing, the first dual-Olympic city in the world, and taking high-speed railways from school to my hometown. All these represent China’s notable development and the realization of the first centenary goal. Now, China is marching toward its second centenary goal, and the Communist Party of China is leading us to achieve it with full gallantry. I’m confident that China will embrace a promising future in 2049.
Firstly, we will realize common prosperity in 2049 after a moderately prosperous society in all respects is successfully built. When it comes to one of the miracles that China has made, a lot has been said and written about China’s poverty alleviation. We can’t imagine how difficult it is, but the number of people living in extreme poverty in the past is large enough to leave the world dumfounded. Nowadays, almost 100 million people have gotten rid of poverty! In respective of it, Chen Beier, the winner of the 2021 Touching China Award, recorded the stories of China’s poverty alleviation, which revealed the living conditions of impoverished areas and the challenges China faced. All these stories were made into documentaries so the world could know what China has done to create a better life for its people. Throughout contemporary China’s history, the CPC’s primary objective has been to improve people’s well-being and realize national rejuvenation. After China entered a new era, the CPC still adhered to its initial aspiration and continuously led its people to produce immeasurable outcomes, such as economic and social changes, including improved infrastructures in rural and urban areas, a better social security system, the prevalence of digital education, as well as China’s increased status as the second largest economy and an innovation-oriented country. In a word, what China has done amplifies our confidence to secure a better, more prosperous, and flourishing country in 2049.
Secondly, we will embrace a country with mature and sophisticated scientific technologies. The two strategies of strengthening the country through science and technology and developing a quality workforce have been tested in the past ten years. The examples were the launch of space programs, the completion of the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST), and the vaccination against COVID-19. Therefore, just as an old saying goes, “finding the correct way is halfway to success.” The experiences show that the strategies are viable and our country is trustworthy. China, which holds the view that development is the basis and crux of a country, has the ability, potential, and vitality to strive for further improvement. In 2049, China will extend its space programs to more planets, independently develop the chip technology, improve Internet security, and transit from a manufacturing powerhouse into an innovative power.
Thirdly, nurtured by the traditional Chinese culture, China adheres to a balanced development path that places man and nature in harmony and the belief that all people across the world are brothers and sisters. That is to say, realizing common prosperity and building a country with world-class scientific and technological strength should not be at the cost of nature and other countries’ loss. We are firmly convinced that the development of any country is not a zero-sum game. And China has followed this principle all the time. Thus, it’s no doubt that in 2049 China will be an active advocator of peaceful development, a true follower of environmental protection, and an ardent supporter of other countries’ development. China will always follow the path of building a community with a shared future for mankind and embrace the world all along.
As General Secretary Xi once said to all Chinese youths, “aim high but stay grounded, and dare to think big and take action but make sure you can deliver.” The journey is long and fraught with thrones, but it is attainable as long as all Chinese people make their contribution under the guidance of the Party. China in 2049 is full of expectancy!
