On behalf of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, a spokesperson for the NPC Standing Committee on Tuesday made remarks on the visit to China's Taiwan region by Nancy Pelosi, speaker of the US House of Representatives. The following is the full text of the remarks:
8月2日，美國國會(huì)眾議長佩洛西不顧中方嚴(yán)正交涉和堅(jiān)決反對，執(zhí)意竄訪中國臺(tái)灣地區(qū)。此舉嚴(yán)重違反一個(gè)中國原則和中美三個(gè)聯(lián)合公報(bào)規(guī)定，嚴(yán)重?fù)p害中國主權(quán)和領(lǐng)土完整，嚴(yán)重沖擊中美關(guān)系的政治基礎(chǔ)，向“臺(tái)獨(dú)”分裂勢力發(fā)出嚴(yán)重錯(cuò)誤信號(hào)。中國全國人大對此堅(jiān)決反對，予以強(qiáng)烈譴責(zé)。
On Aug. 2, in disregard of China's solemn representations and firm opposition, US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi went ahead with her visit to China's Taiwan region. The move has gravely violated the one-China principle and the stipulations of the three China-US joint communiques, gravely undermined China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, gravely impacted the political foundation of China-US relations, and sent a seriously wrong signal to "Taiwan independence" separatist forces. China's NPC firmly opposes and strongly condemns the move.
世界上只有一個(gè)中國，臺(tái)灣是中國領(lǐng)土不可分割的一部分，中華人民共和國政府是代表全中國的唯一合法政府。一個(gè)中國原則是中美建立外交關(guān)系的前提，也是中美關(guān)系的政治基礎(chǔ)。美國在臺(tái)灣問題上向中方作出過鄭重承諾，但在行動(dòng)中卻不斷提升美臺(tái)實(shí)質(zhì)關(guān)系和官方往來，縱容支持“臺(tái)獨(dú)”分裂勢力，搞“以臺(tái)制華”，嚴(yán)重?fù)p害臺(tái)海和平穩(wěn)定。中國政府和人民已經(jīng)并將繼續(xù)采取果斷、有力措施，堅(jiān)決維護(hù)自身主權(quán)、安全、發(fā)展利益。
There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory. The Government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China. The one-China principle is the premise for the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States, and is also the political foundation of China-US relations. The United States has made solemn commitment to China on the Taiwan question, but in real action, it has constantly upgraded substantive relations and official exchanges with Taiwan, emboldened and supported "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, attempted to use Taiwan to contain China, and severely undermined the peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits. The Chinese government and the Chinese people have taken and will continue to take resolute and forceful measures to firmly safeguard China's sovereignty, security and development interests.
臺(tái)灣問題事關(guān)中國主權(quán)和領(lǐng)土完整，中國沒有任何妥協(xié)退讓的余地。《反分裂國家法》對堅(jiān)持一個(gè)中國原則、遏制“臺(tái)獨(dú)”分裂、反對外部勢力干涉臺(tái)灣問題等重大問題作出明確規(guī)定。中國政府和中國人民在臺(tái)灣問題上的立場一以貫之，堅(jiān)決維護(hù)中國國家主權(quán)和領(lǐng)土完整是14億多中國人民的堅(jiān)定意志。任何阻撓中國完全統(tǒng)一和民族偉大復(fù)興的企圖注定失敗。
The Taiwan question bears on China's sovereignty and territorial integrity. For China, there is zero room for compromise and not an inch to give. The Anti-Secession Law has made clear stipulations on major issues including upholding the one-China principle, deterring separatist moves toward "Taiwan independence" and opposing interference in the Taiwan question by external forces. The stance of the Chinese government and the Chinese people on the Taiwan question has been consistent. It is the firm will of over 1.4 billion Chinese people to resolutely safeguard China's national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Any attempt to obstruct China's complete reunification and great national rejuvenation is doomed to fail.
